Deogracious Opolot holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture of Makerere University majoring in Crop Science. He has been a recipient of 2014 Inaugural Consortium for Enhancing University Responsiveness in Agribusiness Development (CURAD) Innovation challenge competition Award as best youth Entrepreneur and Overall winner of the competition. He won this award because of his outstanding work on development of organic product aimed at arresting bad odour in animal units. He has been working as Head of production, research and quality control in a private company dealing in production of organic agricultural products. He is currently pursuing Master of Science in Agricultural Economics under the department of Agribusiness and Natural Resource Economics from Makerere University. His study is funded by RUFORUM under the Cassava CARP Project. Deogracious research aims at contributing to economic profitability of bioethanol production enterprise among the rural based cassava farming communities in northern Uganda by conducting an economic analysis of cassava bioethanol processing technologies in Northern Uganda. The study will provide novel information which will be used to guide investment decisions in this enterprise. His immediate interests in the project are to increase bioethanol productivity, reduce post harvest losses of cassava, and increase household income among rural cassava growing communities.
